Go cry to Miami. Designer Abigail Stewart launched her line in one of the most tumultuous periods for the garment industry in recent memory, yet keeps making it work season after season with brilliant collections. Our conversation here goes deep into what worked and what didn’t during her emergence in the marketplace, and touches highly relevant points on the perpetual struggle all designers face between the demands of business and artistry. Also, the zipper is a lie, and Betty White is so hot right now.

I’d never heard of Abigail Stewart before, but I really like her philosophy and I appreciate her desire for authenticity. After listening, I looked up her designs and they are pretty awesome. I love that the inspiration behind her work is stories.
